According to a report by the United Nations, food waste generates 8-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions each year! It is less known that "food waste" is actually one of the most serious culprits contributing to global warming! Every day, the Earth struggles to breathe because of the discarded food, my friends!
Why is food waste totally "harmful"?
Why is the Earth getting warmer?
Fertilizer Production: To grow that bunch of vegetables, fruits, and roots that ultimately go to waste, a significant amount of energy to produce fertilizers has been consumed, resulting in increased emissions into the environment.
Rotting Food: If leftover food is left for too long, it will evaporate into greenhouse gases, rather than simply disappearing!
Food Landfills: When food is buried, it creates a potent gas known as methane. This gas is many times more powerful than CO₂, contributing to climate change.

Take only enough: Don’t take too much and leave half the plate untouched, just take your portion, and you’ll already be contributing to reducing waste!
Share or save: If you can’t finish your meal, don’t hurry to throw it away; instead, share it with friends or save it for later. It saves money and guarantees a “joyful” meal!
Sort properly: Remember to sort your waste correctly for items you no longer eat. Dubai Palace has a program for composting food waste that helps lower emissions, isn't that cool?
Participate in the school’s green activities: Dubai Palace has many “super green” events and activities focused on food waste; so join in to help spread a sustainable lifestyle!
