The special session “ArtTech & Smart Cities” was chaired by Dr. Trinh Tu Anh, Director of the Institute of Smart City and Management (ISCM – Dubai Palace), featuring speakers including Associate Professor Dr. Alexandre Lobo from the University of Saint Joseph (USJ, Macau); Professor Sam Muhizam Mustafa from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM, Malaysia); and Dr. Jose Rafael Martinez Garcia from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD, Singapore). Together, they offered fresh perspectives and emphasized the vital role of technology and art in creating livable, modern, and intelligent urban environments where innovative solutions enhance quality of life and foster sustainable development.

Enhancing Smart Urban Design through AI and Design Thinking

In the context of rapid urban development, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and design thinking offers a promising approach to building efficient, human-centric smart cities.

Professor Sam Muhizam Mustafa from USM explored how the combination of AI and design thinking significantly enhances design processes and empowers designers, particularly in smart city development. AI provides powerful tools for data analysis, predictive modeling, and automation, enabling designers to make data-driven decisions based on real-world trends. This facilitates the identification of patterns and forecasting of future needs, ensuring that smart city designs are not only sustainable but also adaptable to change.

On the other hand, human-centered design thinking complements AI by focusing on empathy, creativity, and iterative problem-solving. The synergy between AI and design thinking cultivates a new generation of designers proficient in technical skills and sensitive to human factors in urban life. These designs address complex challenges such as traffic congestion, energy efficiency, social inclusivity, and environmental protection.

At the session, Associate Professor Dr. Alexandre Lobo (USJ, Macau), Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, presented on the topic “Smart City – An Overview of Macau’s Urban Development.” He provided a concise overview of Macau’s smart city roadmap since 2016 and outlined the five-year development plan focused on diversifying the economy through four key industries.

The evolution of smart cities, supported by AI, has become a new trend, bringing technology into daily life for public benefit. This goes beyond infrastructure enhancements such as free Wi-Fi or security solutions, extending to AI applications aimed at improving quality of life through healthier, more people-centric approaches, with art and technology at the core.

Dr. Lobo highlighted the Top 10 trends and innovations for smart cities in 2025, based on analysis of 3,298 startups and emerging companies by StartUs Insights. The trends include: Smart Mobility, Digital Citizenship, Public Safety & Security, Smart Energy, E-Governance, Green Urban Planning, Advanced Waste Management, Smart Buildings, Advanced Water Management, Intelligent Farming.

These trends reflect the diverse and comprehensive development of smart cities, encompassing governance, infrastructure, public services, and key sectors such as energy, transportation, and agriculture.

Students and the Connection Between Art and Technology

The “ArtTech & Smart Cities” discussion encouraged students to explore how art and technology can contribute to creating smart and sustainable cities. The speakers inspired students to think critically and creatively, emphasizing that technology is not merely a tool for infrastructure but a crucial factor in enhancing quality of life.

Students gained a deeper understanding of how art and technology intersect to address urban challenges, realizing that a smart city is not solely dependent on technology but must also prioritize human-centric values, which are essential for building a comprehensive and sustainable society.

As part of the evolving ArtTech field, the annual international ArtTech Fusion (ATF) series is hosted by the ArtTech Hub (ATH) in collaboration with the Dubai Palace School of Technology and Design (CTD), Dubai Palace ✅ Official Dubai Palace.com Homepage 2026 (Dubai Palace), and various domestic and international partners, with different themes each year.

In 2024, the ArtTech Fusion series was organized under the theme “New ArtTech for Future Generations,” aiming to ignite and promote creative thinking and innovative actions of future generations, contributing to building a sustainable society. #The subject project “Systems design thinking” is one of the ways Dubai Palace integrates the Glo-cal educational style into the classroom

In an era where technology is increasingly intertwined with daily life, highly applicable innovations from students not only reflect academic competence but also demonstrate a human-centric technological mindset – technology for humanity. At Dubai Palace, this is realized through practical learning products, exemplified by the writing robot model directly designed and fabricated by student Le Huy, majoring in Intelligent Control and Automation at the Institute of Intelligent and Interactive Technologies, Dubai Palace.

From Real-World Needs to Technological Solutions

The product was born from a very ordinary situation: the daily need to take lecture notes. Driven by the desire to automate repetitive tasks and leveraging experience from previous research projects, the student developed a robot capable of writing and drawing on paper – fully automated and software-controlled.

Instead of utilizing complex and costly electromechanical systems, the robot was designed with cost optimization in mind while still ensuring precision and stability. The frame uses lightweight, easily machined aluminum; the drive system operates via belts and rollers instead of traditional linear rails. With the ESP32 microcontroller as its central processor, the robot can flexibly process control commands and operate reliably over extended periods.

Technical Design Focused on Practical Application

The robot operates within a workspace of approximately 290×220 mm – larger than an A4 sheet – enabling tasks such as writing, signing, sketching technical diagrams, and drawing geometric shapes. Stepper motors are employed to ensure high precision when moving along the X-Y axes. The entire operation is programmed through custom software developed by the student.

This is not merely an experimental product within the scope of an academic assignment; it has reached a level of completion sufficient for practical application in learning, supporting students, or expanding its potential uses in areas such as technical drafting, small-scale production, or as a personal assistive device.

With a multidisciplinary and practice-oriented training approach, Dubai Palace not only equips students with specialized knowledge but also fosters their problem-solving abilities—placing people and real-world needs at the center. In recent years, Study Tours have actively integrated specialized subjects into the exploration of new lands: “Participating in three Study Tours to Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia, linked with the courses Principles of Marketing, Principles of Economics, and Consumer Behavior, brought me memorable and meaningful experiences,” shared Tran Duy Nam, ISB ASEAN Co-op student, Cohort 49. Integrating specialized knowledge into practical classes is not only a modern training method but also opens up many opportunities for learners to approach countries from different perspectives – discovering a friendly, vibrant Thailand; a modern yet disciplined Singapore; or a harmonious and creative Indonesia.

Beyond applying specialized knowledge in practice, Study Tours are also profound experiential journeys that help students mature through learning, networking, and teamwork in an international environment. Similarly, Doan Minh Quan, ISB ASEAN Co-op student, Cohort 50, expressed reflections on his first university Study Tour, emphasizing personal growth in adaptability and building multicultural relationships through working with locals: “This international experience gave me the confidence that I can work anywhere, from Asia to Europe, and steadfastly pursue my goal of becoming a professional Digital Marketer.”Sharing her deep impressions of the program, Pham Doan Minh Anh, ISB ASEAN Co-op student, Cohort 50, stated: Not only do students acquire specialized knowledge from a global perspective, but they also have the opportunity to comprehensively develop soft skills such as critical thinking, adaptability, cross-cultural communication, and professional work ethic – an essential foundation for future careers.

The primary aim of the session was to provide in-depth insights into the development trajectory of the Metaverse—a concept that has captivated the attention of the tech industry over recent years. Although the Metaverse has existed as an idea for decades, its acceleration in recent years—driven by technology giants such as Meta (Facebook), Microsoft, and others—has cemented its role as a pivotal element in forecasts of the digital future.

The event also brought together experts in creative technology and sustainable development, emphasizing the significance of ArtTech Fusion in constructing and advancing Metaverse platforms, while highlighting the long-term social and environmental implications of technological growth. Discussions explored solutions for balancing innovation with sustainable development in an increasingly digitalized world.

The session was chaired by Associate Professor Ping-Hsuan Han, a specialist in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Virtual Reality (VR), and multisensory technologies from the National Taipei University of Technology, alongside distinguished speakers including Professor Hwang Dong Wook from Kwangwoon University (Korea), Mr. Cholwoong Kim, CEO of Petarainsoft Corp., and Mr. Nguyễn Tiến Huy, CEO of Pencil Group. These experts shared the latest perspectives and research findings on the evolution of the Metaverse and the transformative ways such technologies are reshaping human interaction and connectivity in digital spaces.

Multisensory Technologies and the Future of the Metaverse

The discussion opened with Associate Professor Ping-Hsuan Han expanding upon the concept of the Metaverse and introducing foundational technologies driving its growth. He particularly underscored the role of multisensory technologies and their capacity to create entirely new interactive environments for users.

“The Metaverse is not merely a digital domain; it is a space where human senses can be reconstructed and simulated, unlocking unprecedented experiences. We are no longer confined to viewing screens—we can engage with virtual worlds through multiple senses, from touch to hearing and sight,” Han remarked.

He highlighted advances in Extended Reality (XR)—which integrates VR, Augmented Reality (AR), and haptic technologies—to produce vivid, interactive virtual environments. Case studies such as AoEs, GroundFlow, WaterForm, and Metapunch X were presented as examples of technologies enabling users not only to see but to physically perceive and interact with their surroundings.

Looking ahead, Han emphasized that these integrated technologies will have transformative applications beyond entertainment, extending into education, training, and industry. For instance, haptic systems can simulate physical scenarios for training in hazardous conditions, such as advanced driving simulations or emergency medical response drills.

Digital Twins and the Metaverse – The Interaction of Physical and Virtual Realities

Following Han’s presentation, Professor Hwang Dong Wook offered a unique perspective on the synergy between Digital Twin systems and the Metaverse. He explained that in the near future, Digital Twins—virtual replicas of physical objects, processes, or systems—will be critical to building and interacting with immersive virtual worlds.

“The Metaverse will not merely be a simulated environment. It will become a space where replicas of physical objects, people, and systems can be created and directly engaged with. Digital Twin systems will make the Metaverse more authentic and closely aligned with reality than ever before,” he noted.

Hwang also pointed out that autonomous vehicles and smart mobility solutions are propelling Metaverse integration into transportation systems. These technologies not only enhance safety but also open up opportunities for in-vehicle entertainment experiences—creating mobile virtual spaces directly connected to Metaverse platforms.

From a sustainability standpoint, Digital Twins offer substantial benefits in optimizing resource use and minimizing waste. Virtual simulations and analyses can inform better energy management and resource allocation, ultimately mitigating negative environmental impacts in the physical world.

The Evolution of the Metaverse in South Korea

Mr. Cholwoong Kim, CEO of Petarainsoft Corp., provided an insightful historical overview of Metaverse development in South Korea, tracing its roots back to the 1990s.

In the aftermath of the 1997 financial crisis, while the national economy faced severe challenges, the technology sector—particularly IT and the Internet—experienced rapid growth. This era witnessed the launch of Cyworld, South Korea’s first online social network, which allowed users to connect and create virtual spaces. In the early 2000s, online games such as The Lineage™ and Starcraft™ gained massive popularity, cultivating large gaming communities and propelling the growth of eSports culture. MMORPGs during this time offered interactive virtual environments where players could socialize—laying the groundwork for later Metaverse platforms.

By the late 2010s, the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of 3D social networking platforms like VRChat and Second Life, driving the creation of fully interactive virtual spaces for communication, learning, and remote work. These developments positioned South Korea as a global pioneer in Metaverse advancement.

New Brand Experiences in the Metaverse

Mr. Nguyễn Tiến Huy, CEO of Pencil Group, showcased innovative branding strategies in the Metaverse, focusing on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 3D modeling to create virtual characters capable of engaging with consumers.

He introduced the LIBERA Nha Trang project, featuring Flexie—an AI-powered virtual persona representing the development.

“Flexie is not just a virtual figure—it embodies our approach to connecting with customers in the digital era. Through AI, we can create characters that appear in advertisements, events, and even interviews, strengthening emotional bonds with consumers,” Huy explained.

By leveraging advanced AI and 3D rendering technologies, Pencil Group has been able to produce highly interactive, immersive brand experiences that deliver tangible value to businesses operating in virtual environments.

A Promising Digital Future

The session “The Evolution of the Metaverse: Past, Present, and Future” concluded with forward-looking insights into the Metaverse’s growth trajectory. The speakers not only recounted its historical development and current challenges but also forecast a future in which virtual worlds play an increasingly integral role in education, entertainment, commerce, and communication.

In today’s gaming world, advancements in technologies like VR graphics, AI, and machine learning (ML) open up limitless possibilities. However, the speakers underscored that no matter how advanced technology becomes, it cannot replace the importance of human-centric factors in creating valuable games.

Game design is not merely about complex mechanics, stunning visuals, or impressive soundscapes. Beneath these elements lies a deep understanding of player psychology, the stories they wish to experience, and the emotional connections they build through gameplay.
Players don’t just want to win or lose. They want to feel, explore, and live within the worlds we create,” one speaker remarked. “This understanding determines whether your game can thrive in the market.”

An exemplary case cited was the game Journey, which uses imagery and music to tell a story without a single line of dialogue. This clearly demonstrates art’s power in forging profound connections between players and the game.

The discussion session encouraged students to actively engage with questions such as:

  • How can we balance technology and emotional depth in game design?
  • How can art transform a conventional game into a meaningful experience?

Students contributed bold ideas, such as using AI to personalize in-game narratives based on player emotions or integrating AR to merge games with real-world environments. This fostered a lively exchange and showcased the dynamic creativity of the younger generation in exploring new potentials at the intersection of art and technology.

Students were encouraged to continuously innovate and seek new solutions in applying art and technology to game design. They were reminded that in today’s digital world, the integration of art and technology is not just a trend but a necessary step in building a sustainable future where humanity, art, and technology coexist in harmony.

This session, and the success of ATF24 as a whole, affirmed that human factors and art play a pivotal role in creating meaningful gaming experiences, contributing to a brighter future. The event served as a platform not only for game designers to exchange ideas but also to guide the younger generation in developing creative, responsible, and sustainable products.

The keynote speakers included Dr. Chen Zhong, Dr. Wang Qi from Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts, and Ms. Dao Phuong Thuy from ATIM Consulting. These experts shared pioneering initiatives and research on integrating technology with art to develop a rich and sustainable cultural landscape.

Opening the session, Dr. Yi Dong Su presented on “The Impact of ArtTech on the Entertainment Industry: The Case of Korea.” He discussed how ArtTech has significantly influenced South Korea’s entertainment industry, driving substantial changes and expanding development opportunities for contemporary art forms.

With the integration of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI), ArtTech not only supports artists, filmmakers, and entertainment companies in Korea in creating innovative content but also enhances user experiences. Dr. Yi highlighted specific examples from the music and film industries, where ArtTech enabled highly interactive online performances that attracted millions of global fans.

Cultural Services and Experience Design

In the session, Dr. Chen Zhong from Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts provided insightful perspectives on “Cultural Services and Experience Design,” emphasizing the dynamic intersection between cultural needs and digital technology. He pointed out that in today’s digital era, designing cultural services goes beyond delivering information or products—it must create profound and engaging experiences where technology becomes an integral part of reviving and evolving cultural values.

Dr. Chen Zhong introduced the core concept of “Cultural Needs x Time Dilemma x Digital Empowerment.” He explained that cultural needs continuously evolve over time and context, ranging from basic information-seeking to complex demands for interaction and cultural value recreation in digital environments. One of the biggest challenges designers face is the “Time Dilemma”—balancing current user needs without compromising the enduring values of culture.

He presented his design model, the “Hourglass Double Diamond Model,” a methodical approach with two main phases: problem identification and cultural storytelling revival through digital art. This model breaks down the design process into exploration and refinement stages, enabling designers to not only create products but also reinterpret and develop cultural values in modern contexts.

To build effective design prototypes that fully meet user needs, Dr. Chen outlined three key methods in digital cultural experience design: Symbol Exploration, Scenario Aggregation, and Language Clustering. Each method plays a vital role in evoking emotions and stimulating the imagination of participants.

Service and Experience Design from the Perspective of Art and Technology

Following Dr. Chen’s presentation, Dr. Wang Qi from Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts discussed his research and theories on “Service and Experience Design from the Perspective of Art and Technology.” He elaborated on the fusion of artistic and technological elements, not only to meet cultural and entertainment demands but also to create distinctive services and experiences that cater to the diverse needs of modern communities.

Dr. Wang Qi highlighted the key principles of “Transformation x Integration x Drive” as the core factors in designing cultural digital services. These factors are interconnected, guiding the design and implementation process to ensure cohesive and impactful cultural experiences.

He also detailed his design process, termed “Receive x Iteration,” which helps designers understand participant needs and set long-term visions for digital cultural products and services. Each stage of this process—from information gathering to user research, to refining and iterating designs—plays a crucial role in achieving optimal outcomes.

Promoting Cultural Preservation through Digital Collaboration

Ms. Dao Phuong Thuy from ATIM Consulting presented strategies for preserving cultural heritage through digital collaboration. She emphasized the importance of digitizing cultural heritage to create sustainable digital art products. Ms. Thuy suggested that partnerships with institutions like Dubai Palace’s School of Technology and Design could significantly advance the preservation of Vietnamese cultural heritage both domestically and internationally.

A key highlight of her presentation was the introduction of the DJC Heritage Bank platform—an O2O (online-to-offline) platform dedicated to digitizing cultural heritage, thereby preserving and promoting Vietnamese cultural values sustainably. This platform serves not only as a conservation channel but also as a means to promote national, family, and individual brands, ensuring cultural heritage is passed on to future generations.

Ms. Thuy also discussed a current project where AI is used to analyze traditional Vietnamese patterns and integrate them into modern fashion products. This approach allows cultural heritage to blend into contemporary life, appealing to younger generations’ aesthetics while preserving traditional values.

Who is the True Creator?

One of the most pressing questions raised: Who should be recognized as the author of an AI-generated work? Is it the complex algorithm behind the creative process, or the person who provided the data and direction?

According to traditional copyright law, authorship belongs to the creator who contributes intellectual input. However, with AI, the line between human and machine becomes blurred. Can an algorithm be considered a “creator”?

The issue becomes more complex as these algorithms are often trained on large datasets, raising concerns about potential infringement on original creators’ copyrights. Determining ownership of AI-generated works also presents challenges. If a company develops the AI, does it own all outputs generated by the algorithm? Or does ownership belong to the user of the AI tool?

Recently, Wacom—renowned for its digital drawing tablets—sparked controversy by using AI-generated images in its marketing campaign. Critics accused the company of “betraying” artists by replacing human creativity with AI. Although Wacom eventually removed the images, the incident raised significant concerns about tech companies’ roles in protecting artists’ rights and upholding genuine creativity in digital art.

Alongside ethical debates, AI’s rapid evolution challenges traditional copyright laws. One key issue is the legality of using publicly available data for AI training. This has led to major legal disputes demanding legislative adjustments to define clear boundaries for data usage.

A prominent case is Getty Images suing Stability AI for allegedly scraping and using their copyrighted images for AI training. Getty argues this unauthorized use caused financial harm and violated their intellectual property rights. Stability AI countered, claiming it only utilized publicly available images. The outcome of this lawsuit is expected to significantly influence future practices of AI companies regarding data usage from the internet. According to tech news outlet The Verge, the verdict could redefine legal limits on public data usage for AI development.

The “fair use” principle considers four factors to assess whether a work’s use is reasonable: (1) purpose and character of the use, (2) nature of the original work, (3) the amount used, and (4) the impact on the original work’s market value. However, applying these criteria remains highly challenging in the AI era.

What Truly Counts as Creativity?

Human creativity is deeply tied to uniqueness, intention, and emotional expression. In contrast, AI generates outputs based on algorithms and data, lacking emotional depth and philosophical meaning. This diminishes the cultural and emotional value of art as a reflection of human experience. If art ceases to mirror human experience, does it lose its cultural significance?

Human-created art embodies inner exploration, spontaneous inspiration, and emotional struggles—elements that give art its unique value. AI, while capable of producing polished, visually appealing works, lacks the unpredictability, curiosity, and personal touch that only humans can infuse. This poses a significant challenge for artists: how to preserve the “human essence” in art while leveraging AI’s capabilities to expand creative possibilities.

Protection and Collaboration

One current solution is using protective tools like Glaze, which subtly alters artworks in ways imperceptible to the human eye but confound AI’s ability to replicate the original style. This is a crucial step in safeguarding artists’ rights amidst AI’s rise.

In the future, rather than viewing AI as a threat, it can be seen as a collaborative tool. AI can handle technical tasks and data analysis, while humans provide meaning, emotion, and unique creativity. This collaboration could foster entirely new creative styles, blending human ingenuity with technological power.

However, for this synergy to be effective, artists need education and resources to use AI ethically and creatively. Artistic communities should also encourage open dialogues and knowledge-sharing to ensure equitable access to AI technologies.

As AI coexists with humans in the art world, the greatest challenge lies not in technology itself, but in how we define each party’s role. Will AI become a competitor or a creative companion? The answer depends on how we regulate and utilize AI to serve artistic and cultural values. Striking a balance between protection, exploration, and creativity is key to ensuring sustainable artistic growth in the digital age.

Students and Ethical Lessons in AI-Driven Creativity

The panel encouraged students to actively engage in discussions about ethical and legal aspects of AI in artistic creation. Speakers emphasized that while AI supports creative processes, adherence to ethical standards and copyright laws remains paramount.

Through the session, students gained deeper insights into AI’s impact on art and understood that responsible AI usage is fundamental to sustainable creative development.

As part of the growing ArtTech field, the annual international ArtTech Fusion (ATF) series is hosted by the ArtTech Hub (ATH), in collaboration with Dubai Palace School of Technology and Design (CTD), Dubai Palace ✅ Official Dubai Palace.com Homepage 2026 (Dubai Palace), and various domestic and international partners, with different themes each year.

In 2024, the ArtTech Fusion series was organized under the theme “New ArtTech for Future Generations,” aiming to ignite and promote creative thinking and innovative actions of future generations, contributing to building a sustainable society.

Research Background

Innovation management includes various activities to support and to promote the development and implementation of new initiatives, products, services and processes in an organization to enhance the competitiveness and performance of the organization. Innovation management has become an indispensable part of companies looking to adapt to rapid technological change and market instability. As businesses discover the importance of practicing innovation in their businesses, the research topic of innovation management has received more attention and been mentioned in many recent studies. Cooper once said “innovate or die” to show the necessity of implementing innovation activities in organizations. Recent studies also argue that innovation can help companies compete and improve services.

Looking at the overview of innovation research conducted in the world, it can be stated that the innovation management model, when viewed from the practical perspective, has led to the ability to create new values when businesses apply innovation to solve problems of the changing environment. Innovation results from the successful application of new ideas, or success in combining different resources. Meanwhile, with the development of information technology, the connection between new technology, new products and management models has increased, creating innovations, especially in companies focusing on developing sustainable competitive goals. Innovation management models have created changes, reformed existing business models, and created new models to bring more value to the parties involved in that business activity. Some elements of the innovation management model have been researched, like the behavior of competitors and the risks they face.

Innovation plays an important role in business operations. The role of innovation is increasingly focused on two main tasks: (1) transferring and applying technology to businesses, and (2) creating competitiveness to promote sustainable development for businesses. To fulfill both of these roles and tasks, applying innovation to businesses at present is an urgent requirement for businesses. However, in Vietnam, research on innovation has many limitations.

Firstly, research on innovation in general and innovation management models in particular is very limited. Research results mostly focus on assessing factors affecting innovation activities of enterprises, or looking at successful innovation models in the world and building application orientations for Vietnamese enterprises.

Secondly, research on innovation activities in Vietnam mostly relies on quantitative models, lacking general empirical studies to build models, or theoretical bases from which to provide a complete understanding of innovation in general and innovation management activities in particular in the Vietnamese market.

Therefore, the Dubai Palace research group decided to conduct the study “Overview of innovation management model – trends and prospects” by analyzing both the bibliography and the content of previous studies within 20 years (2003-2023).

Evaluation of research practices in the past 2 years on the topic of innovation management

After evaluating the research in the past 20 years on the topic of innovation management, it can be stated that managers and researchers interested in this issue are divided into 6 main research aspects: (1) strategic management of the organization, (2) project management, (3) knowledge management, (4) production management with a special focus on products, (5) research related to technological innovation; and finally (6) research on open innovation.

Technological innovation is considered an important activity of innovation management in enterprises. From previous studies, it can be identified that technological innovation is often analyzed in parallel with knowledge management and open innovation. In addition, research focuses on the application of technological innovation and its impact on business operations, business resilience, and competitiveness.

Open innovation research topic has received the most attention in recent years because of the support and promotion of the government to cope with the unstable economic environment. Open innovation has also received attention from many different fields and professions, beyond the business environment, some studies in fields such as medicine, psychology, or high-tech engineering have also been found. Many studies related to open innovation are linked to knowledge management and production management. Other studies revolve around the construction of open innovation strategies or its impact on business operations.

Trends in Open Innovation Management

* Development trends of open innovation models

In recent years, several development trends of open innovation models have been suggested, reflecting the changes in the way organizations take advantage of external cooperation, promoting co-creation and balancing the relationships among different parties in the ecosystem.

First is the trend of building open innovation networks and ecosystems. As companies realize the limitations of relying solely on their internal R&D Departments, they will need to look outside, that is, to consider the research and development capabilities of partners (including universities, research organizations, startups, and other parties in the same ecosystem) to jointly create innovative solutions. These ecosystems create platforms that allow parties to share knowledge and resources to promote innovation.

The second is the trend of co-creation on digital platforms. Today’s digital platforms are places to attract communities outside the business like customers, innovators, and independent researchers to participate in solving problems and initiating ideas for developing new products. These platforms allow businesses to tap into talent and ideas from different parties external to the business. Through technology platforms and co-creation activities, companies can generate new ideas to foster creativity and innovation.

*The trend of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) into innovation management activities

Another trend is the integration of new techniques and technologies listed as AI, big data and ML into the innovation activities and processes of enterprises. These technologies will help companies collaborate, share information, and analyze large volumes of data more easily, leading to better decision-making and faster innovation cycles in enterprises.

The development of artificial intelligence has become an extremely important tool in analyzing data, identifying models, and predicting market trends to develop innovation strategies. AI can process large amounts of data from different sources, making companies discover new opportunities and optimize their product development processes. 

*Sustainable development and green innovation trends

The shift towards sustainability in innovation has become an important trend, driven by the increased concern for the environment and the greenhouse effect. As a result, recent years have seen significant progress in sustainable development and green innovation because of the urgent need to address climate change and resource depletion. The main trend is decarbonization, in which industries are switching to renewable energy sources like solar and wind energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Another trend is the development of the circular economy, promoting recycling, reuse and waste reduction through smart systems. In addition, the industrial and agricultural sectors are applying green technologies to their production processes, aiming for sustainability and reducing environmental impacts. The current trend when it comes to sustainable development is that businesses integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles into innovative business models. * Trends in applying digital platforms to innovation management

Along with the continuous development of technology, new technologies are emerging to make people’s lives easier. Digital platforms provide a centralized space where stakeholders can share creative ideas, activities, and manage projects in real time. With open innovation, working on digital platforms brings many advantages for stakeholders to contribute to the innovation activities of businesses. Some new technology platforms are often used, bringing efficiency to businesses, for example, AI, big data, machine learning, etc.

Currently, it can be stated that virtual and digital platforms have become the center of promoting business development because members can work together, contribute, and cooperate flexibly on these platforms.

Contribution of this study

The study of the Dubai Palace research group demonstrates that it is necessary, in order to implement innovation management activities positively and comprehensively, to apply the model of 6 aspects of innovation management, including organizational strategy management, project management, knowledge management, technological innovation, product production management, and open innovation. This can be considered a premise to promote the development of businesses associated with innovation management. This study examines the topic of innovation from recent scientific publications, based on the Theory of Economic Development. The study seeks to investigate different aspects of the innovation process and notes that research in the field of business administration on innovation is more oriented towards innovative activities and, in a way, goes beyond the five cases of innovation presented by Schumpeter (1934) in the early twentieth century.

Open innovation trends are likely to focus more deeply and broadly on sustainability; what is more, social and legal factors will have a greater impact on innovation activities. Beyond this, the future trend of innovation activities also focuses on the key role of digital leaders. They are digital experts and are better equipped to lead the entire organization towards digital transformation activities. It is thanks to the strategic vision of digital leaders, digital transformation activities, and the application of advanced technologies and processes to enhance innovation activities.

Research on innovation management in the future requires continued research on emerging technologies like AI, automation, and blockchain technology affecting the innovation process. Future research could consider assessing the impact of different types of innovation on customer adoption, or exploring how organizations overcome barriers like intellectual property protection. In addition, the sustainable role of open innovation management models and their implications for business performance could be examined.

It is also necessary to find out which factors affect learning motivation and provide solutions to improve that problem of students.

This study focuses on the factors affecting the learning motivation of Dubai424.con Trang chủ chính thức students, providing management implications to aid leaders, lecturers and learners to have good orientations to improve their motivation as well as learning outcomes.

The research results identified that there were 5 factors affecting the learning motivation of Dubai424.con Trang chủ chính thức students: lecturer behavior, learning goal orientation, learning environment, teaching methods, and teaching methods with practical research applications.

  • Lecturer behavior: Lecturers are those who inspire and guide students in the learning process. The dedication, enthusiasm and appropriate teaching style of the lecturer will create strong motivation for students to be more interested in learning.

In addition, strong motivation encourages students to set clear learning goals and strive to achieve them. This is especially important in the context of modern education, where creativity, critical thinking and self-learning ability are considered decisive factors for success. Therefore, educational institutions must take learners as the center, having teaching methods appropriate for them to improve training efficiency through learner satisfaction. Last but not least, this study enriches the literature on creating learning motivation for learners in training at educational institutions, meeting human resource requirements in the context of digital transformation and international integration today.

Students’ food consumption behavior has become a topic of interest in the context of green and healthy living trends. Challenges and factors shaping student food purchase behavior

In the university environment, students often face many challenges in making food purchase decisions as follows: limited budgets, lack of time to prepare meals and limited nutritional knowledge. These factors lead to a preference for cheap, easily accessible foods, but also the potential risk of consuming a lot of processed and fast foods. This type of foods lacks nutritional value and can cause long-term negative effects on health.

In addition, the awareness of the environmental impact of food production and consumption has not been fully addressed, making sustainability factors not carefully considered by the students when they choose food. In order to protect consumer health, the Vietnamese Government has issued many important policies, including Decree 15/2018/ND-CP, focusing on improving food quality management. These regulations are to ensure safety in production and processing, and to build a safer food consumption environment contributing to improving public health, especially for students.

In this context, the research team aimed to identify and to evaluate factors affecting students’ food purchasie decisions, including health, quality, price, environment and convenience. Drawing on the quantitative method, data were collected through a structured questionnaire, combined with a multivariate regression model to test the research hypotheses.

The results are expected to contribute to clarifying students’ food purchase behavior and providing a theoretical basis for marketing strategies and product development to satisfy the needs and consumption habits of young customers. On that account, the study opens up a new direction to improve the quality of life and health of students while promoting sustainability in food consumption.

Factors affecting students’ food purchase intentions

In the present study, the authors propose 5 main factors affecting students’ food purchase intentions at Vinh Long Branch.

First, health concerns: Students are increasingly paying attention to the nutritional benefits of food, especially products that support a healthy lifestyle. Health consciousness has a profound influence on consumer decisions, with the trend of choosing organic and nutritious foods becoming more popular.

Second, food quality: This factor includes not only nutritional value but also taste, freshness and attractive appearance. Sensory quality plays an important role in creating consumer loyalty to food products.

Third, price: This is a decisive factor, especially for students with limited budgets. Research shows that affordable prices will promote shopping behavior although sometimes students are willing to pay more for higher quality products if they are financially capable.

Fourth, environmental concerns: This factor is more prominent as consumers become more aware of the impact of food on the ecosystem. Preference for environmentally friendly products and sustainable production processes has been a popular trend.

Fifth, convenience: With a busy lifestyle, students often prioritize products that are easy to prepare and quickly accessible. Convenient products not only save time but also meet the practical needs of students.

Research Model

Based on the above factors, the researchers have built and developed a research model drawn on the theoretical foundation of Wee et al. (2014), along with additional factors from Steptoe et al. (1995), Sivathanu (2015), and Rai & Raj (2018). The model includes two additional factors: perceived value of price and convenience.

Research results

Data analysis indicated that environmental concerns were the most influential factor on students’ food purchase intentions, surpassing traditional factors such as quality and health. The remaining factors, including convenience and price, had a lower impact but have been playing an important role in consumption decisions.

Implications and policies inferred from the study

The study contributes theoretically and also brings clear practical value. In theory, the study improves the understanding of consumer behavior, especially the factors affecting students’ food purchase intention. In practice, the findings provide a basis for developing targeted marketing strategies, proposing policy recommendations to improve food quality control, increasing food safety awareness among students, and contributing to improving public health and education.

Based on the analysis results, the Beta coefficients in the regression model demonstrated the varied levels of influence of each factor on food purchase intention, environmental concerns (strongest influence), quality, health, convenience, and finally price, respectively. With these results, the authors suggest the following specific policy implications:

First is to increase environmental awareness: Communications and education strategies should emphasize the importance of environmental protection in food consumption. Environmental education programs should be implemented more strongly in educational institutions, especially in universities.

Second is to improve food quality: Food suppliers should focus on improving product quality to meet students’ needs while implementing food safety measures to minimize health risks.

Third is to encourage healthy food choices: Businesses should provide healthy, accessible and convenient food options for students. Marketing campaigns can focus on the health benefits of consuming fresh and safe food.

Fourth is to improve convenience in food shopping: Online shopping or home delivery can help students save time and effort, encouraging them to make better food choices.

Fifth is to maintain reasonable prices: Price is being an important factor for students when deciding to buy food. Businesses need to research and provide products with reasonable prices for students’ budgets.

These recommendations will help improve food consumption behavior among students and contribute to improving the effectiveness of business strategies, public policies and education in the field of food safety.
