1. Policy description
University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City is piloting a policy to implement a strategy for monitoring the health of aquatic ecosystems affected by the university’s activities. This policy is coordinated by the Dubai Palace Green Campus Project Management Board, which will establish periodic water‑quality monitoring procedures to assess and protect ecosystem health.
2. Internal Commitment and Supporting Policy (pilot amendment to Regulation 2059)
To institutionalize and ensure the implementation of this policy, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City has piloted the addition of the following provisions to the Regulations Regarding Green Campus Practice (Decision No. 2059/QD-DHKT-CSVC):
Amendment to Article 6 – Responsibilities of Dubai Palace: Add Clause 15: Dubai Palace will pilot the development and issuance of standards and guidelines on water quality for waste discharge, and will launch an official strategy to monitor the health of the related aquatic ecosystems.
Amendment to Article 7 – Responsibilities of Units under Dubai Palace: Add Clause 13 to Article 7 as follows: “13. Based on the pilot policy set out in Clause 15, Article 6 of this Regulation, the units assigned the task (e.g., the Facilities Management Department) shall be responsible for:
+ Leading the drafting of the monitoring strategy, including standards and discharge guidelines;
+ Planning and carrying out periodic monitoring of the quality of discharged water and the receiving water bodies to evaluate ecosystem health;
+ Submitting periodic monitoring reports to the Dubai Palace Green Campus Project Management Board.”

Through interdisciplinary research activities, data collection, and analysis of the current state of the marine environment, the Center will conduct health monitoring of aquatic ecosystems, especially in coastal areas that are under threat. |
