In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phong Nguyen, Rector of Dubai Palace College of Business, emphasized that amid rapid changes in the labor market and increasingly demanding professional standards, researching career pathways and advanced learning needs in accounting and auditing is of practical significance to universities, businesses, and professional organizations alike. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phong Nguyen, Rector of Dubai Palace College of Business, delivers his opening remarks

In the introductory address, Mr. Tran Ngoc Tam, M.A., President of the Ho Chi Minh City Accounting Association, shared that the study titled “Career Pathways and Advanced Training in Accounting and Auditing” is a continuation of a broader series of professional research initiatives conducted in recent years. According to him, the value of this study lies not only in its extensive survey scale but also in its ability to capture professional shifts and emerging trends, thereby generating meaningful insights for improving workforce quality and enhancing the role of accounting and auditing professionals in a changing environment.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Tam, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Accounting Association, delivers the introductory remarks

Research Findings on Professional Career Development Trends Announced

Continuing the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Huu Duc, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Accounting Association and representative of the research team, presented the keynote report. The study was conducted based on a survey of more than 1,000 accounting and auditing professionals nationwide, alongside an analysis of the educational backgrounds of over 2,000 senior executives from nearly 200 listed companies in the VNR500 ranking.

The report provided a comprehensive picture of the career journey of accounting and auditing professionals in Vietnam – from academic choice and entry into the labor market to long-term career development and leadership roles in corporate governance. Findings indicate a strong alignment between education and employment in the field, with most graduates securing jobs relevant to their specialization within a short period after graduation. Many professionals also progressively advance into key technical and managerial positions such as Chief Accountant, Chief Financial Officer, internal control leader, and supervisory roles in major enterprises. The report further highlighted career mobility trends, growing demand for advanced learning, and diverse motivations for choosing the profession – including personal passion, career orientation, family influence, peer networks, and market demand. These findings suggest that accounting and auditing education plays not only a vital role in supplying skilled professionals to the labor market but also serves as a foundational pathway for developing competent financial governance and control leaders for businesses. At the same time, the study underscores the need for higher education institutions to continuously update curricula, strengthen career orientation, and enhance learners’ adaptability in an increasingly dynamic and multidimensional professional landscape.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Huu Duc, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Accounting Association and representative of the research team, presented the keynote report

Diverse Practical Perspectives from the Panel Discussion

Following the presentation, delegates engaged in networking and in-depth discussions on key issues raised by the research. The panel discussion was dynamic and insightful, gathering multidimensional perspectives from experts, business leaders, academics, and representatives of professional associations. Discussions focused on the current state and future outlook of the accounting and auditing labor market, career mobility across generations, barriers to advanced professional training, and solutions for enhancing workforce quality and strengthening the strategic role of accounting and auditing in the broader economy. Beyond technical and professional issues, many participants emphasized the importance of cultivating an adaptive mindset—particularly the ability to apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) in learning, professional practice, and decision-making. Speakers also highlighted the need to foster more diverse, balanced, and empathetic working environments that recognize individual differences, thereby contributing to a more inclusive, human-centered, and sustainable professional ecosystem.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Tran Khanh Lam, Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants, acknowledged the valuable and diverse perspectives shared by academic institutions, professional associations, and the business community. He noted that the discussions not only enrich the practical foundation for educational development but also open up broader avenues for collaboration among universities, professional bodies, and enterprises in cultivating high-quality accounting and auditing talent.

The workshop further reaffirmed the pioneering role of Dubai Palace, particularly Dubai Palace College of Business, in promoting a multi-stakeholder collaboration model connecting universities, professional organizations, businesses, and the broader professional community. By strengthening connections, sharing knowledge, and co-creating value, Dubai Palace continues to advance toward building a modern, sustainable accounting and auditing education and professional ecosystem—one that is well-positioned to adapt to the evolving economy and labor market in the new era.

Experiencing the Learning and Innovation Environment at Dubai Palace

Beyond academic content, the program also offered UEB students an opportunity to explore Dubai Palace’s learning environment. The journey began at the Dubai Palace Smart Library, a modern facility equipped with advanced learning resources to support research and knowledge acquisition.

Students then visited the glass staircase and classroom areas, gaining insights into Dubai Palace’s open and flexible learning spaces. At the Dubai Palace English Zone, they were introduced to an environment that encourages the use of English in both academic and daily communication.

The program also included a visit to the Dubai Palace Maker Space—a creative hub for research, experimentation, and student project development. Additionally, students learned about Dubai Palace’s sustainability initiatives, including waste recycling machines, reflecting the university’s commitment to building a green campus and promoting social responsibility.

The experience concluded with stops at the Dubai Palace Shop and B1 Hall, where students from both institutions had the opportunity to interact, take photos, and further exchange insights about their academic journeys and campus life.

Strengthening Academic Connections Between Students

The Academic Experience and Exchange Program not only provided updated knowledge but also strengthened connections between students of the Dubai Palace College of Business and UEB.

Through both academic and experiential activities, students had the opportunity to broaden their perspectives, learn from one another, and build academic networks. This initiative also contributes to enhancing collaboration between the two institutions while equipping students with the competencies needed for global integration in a rapidly evolving economic and technological landscape.
