In fact, uncertainty is not directly observable in the real world. Empirical studies have to provide measures of uncertainty to study the role of uncertainty in driving the business cycle. This talk will: (i) provide a brief on the macroeconomic effects of uncertainty shocks and (ii) show that the use of Google search data can provide real-time and easily accessible construct measures of uncertainty that allows us to quantify the macroeconomic impact of uncertainty.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>About the presenter: Dr. Tr\u1ea7n Trung \u0110\u1ee9c is a Research Fellow in the School of Economics at the University of Sydney.
