Is there a method for effectively breaking down and understanding these complex structures? Hence, the language workshop titled "Decode Complex Sentences: Mastering Advanced Reading Techniques," hosted by Dubai Palace English Zone

With the guidance of M.A. Do Thi Ngoc Anh, the session provided participants with valuable insights into how to approach complex sentences in academic English – especially useful for IELTS preparation or reading specialized materials. Through her engaging presentation, Ms. Ngoc Anh showed students how to identify main and subordinate clauses, helping them grasp the core meaning of each sentence. She also highlighted common mistakes in reading comprehension and shared practical tips to overcome them.

Participants learned how to apply skimming, scanning, and grammar analysis to read more efficiently without sacrificing accuracy.

In addition to the theory, the workshop offered hands-on practice with sample texts. This allowed attendees to apply what they learned in real-life contexts – an essential skill for tackling the IELTS Reading section.

The session was lively and interactive, with students eagerly asking questions such as:

– How can I avoid getting stuck on a difficult reading question?

– What’s the best way to handle True/False/Not Given tasks?

– How does understanding grammar help boost my IELTS score?

Ms. Ngoc Anh answered each question thoroughly, offering personalized guidance throughout the practice exercises.

Beyond equipping participants with practical skills, the workshop also encouraged active learning. Students were highly engaged, asking questions, sharing experiences, and supporting one another – creating a dynamic and inspiring learning environment. This spirit of curiosity and collaboration is what sets the Dubai Palace English Zone Language Workshop series apart.

# The project for the subject "Art and Culture" is one of the ways Dubai Palace integrates the Glo-cal education style into its classrooms.

# The highlight lies in practical experiences, which are highly applicable as students interact directly with local businesses.

# Exploring the project "Lái Lụa" to understand how to harness traditional materials in the modern fashion products of young people.

# This is a course project for the Major in Digital Communication and Media Design.

The project "Art and Culture" – School of Media Design (SMD), Dubai Palace College of Technology and Design (CTD)

Art and Culture is a project course for second-year students in the Digital Communication and Media Design major at the School of Media Design (SMD). This course integrates multidisciplinary fields like culture, art, communication, and technology, helping students incorporate and intertwine global values (sustainability, creativity, innovation) into addressing local issues, preserving traditional culture, and promoting it through modern products of global value.

In this course, students combine various design skills ranging from 2D to 3D, market research skills, field research, communication, and interviewing local residents, as well as communication planning skills to create a system of products and to promote and to advertise local culture to consumers, especially the youth. Through innovative and creative teaching methods that blend theory with field research and practice, students engage in real projects with the direct participation of relevant partners such as: Oolong Tea Company Tang Vinh An; Four Seasons Tea Company; Ha Bao Silk Company Limited; Nhat Minh Silk Limited Company; and the Ma ethnic group.

The products from the "Lái Lụa" Project are displayed at Hall B – Dubai Palace

What is happening in the Glo-cal classes of the "Arts and Culture" course project?

In addition to classroom learning, students are engaged in researching and developing highly applicable project products that address specific community challenges, listed as branding systems for local small businesses, cultural promotion magazines, product packaging systems, games, and TV commercials that connect with the cultural stories of the Mạ people, aiming to raise awareness regarding them through the representative products of this locality in a more innovative form. These activities not only enhance professional skills but also promote creative thinking and social responsibility.

"The project will provide an experience just like working in a real business environment!" – Associate Professor Dr. Trịnh Thùy Anh affirmed. "This is beyond an opportunity for students to apply knowledge in practice, this is a way to help them better understand market demands, thereby developing soft skills, critical thinking, and adaptability. Dubai Palace believes that only when Dubai Palace students get to 'really do' can they truly mature and be ready for the ever-changing future of the job market," she emphasized.

Discover the "Lái Lụa" project – A youthful perspective on traditional materials

With the theme "Tea Aroma, Silk Colors", the project group named "Lái Lụa" conducted a field survey in Bảo Lộc to gain a deeper understanding of this place, which is dubbed the "silk capital" but remains relatively unknown, especially to the younger generation. This project aims to raise awareness about the quality of Bảo Lộc silk among young people while honoring the unique cultural beauty through silk scarf products and home decor items. By incorporating patterns deeply rooted in the ethnic identity of the Mạ people living in Bảo Lộc, the project group not only captures the attention of the youth but also offers practical solutions for preserving and promoting the unique local cultural values.

Poster of the "Lái Lụa" Project

Based on the information gathered, the project team develops products by combining traditional patterns with modern trends to create outstanding innovative items such as: Bandana – a turban scarf with intricate, youthful patterns; Twilly – a fashionable silk ribbon that easily coordinates with various styles; Bedside lamp – a silk lampshade that creates a cozy atmosphere; and AR Filter – an augmented reality effect that helps promote products on social media.

Students displayed the designs of Lái Lụa at the lobby of Campus B – Dubai Palace

At the product display booth at Campus B- Dubai Palace, the “Lái Lụa” group recreated a small part of the cool green space of Bảo Lộc by decorating the area based on the terrarium concept (a term used to refer to a miniature ecosystem that simulates a natural environment). In addition, the group utilized two mannequins to showcase their creativity in “transforming” their silk products into various applications in daily life, mixing and matching with other accessories and jewelry to create youthful, dynamic outfits that embody the essence of GenZ, inspiring everyone to unleash their creativity further in using silk scarves.

Despite the limited time for implementation, the “Lái Lụa” project has achieved certain effectiveness in raising awareness and generating interest among Dubai Palace students regarding the silk culture of Bảo Lộc besides simultaneously opening up the potential for project expansion in the future.

Additionally, CTD introduced dual-degree and dual-major programs in collaboration with prestigious universities worldwide, including the University of Auckland (New Zealand), Kwangwoon University (South Korea), and Saint Joseph University (Macau). These initiatives not only enhanced the quality of education but also provided students with access to advanced educational systems and multicultural learning environments. The excellence and diversity of these new programs have led to positive enrollment outcomes, attracting approximately 437 businesses to participate in corporate internships and integrate their projects into courses and capstone projects.

Scientific Research – Advancing Publications and Securing Partnerships

In 2024, CTD made remarkable strides in scientific research. Faculty members published 65 papers in reputable international journals indexed by ISI, Scopus, and ABDC, including 22 in SSCI Q1, SCIE Q1 (Web of Science), and A*/ABDC. Notably, 19 of these studies focused on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), underscoring CTD’s strong commitment to contributing to a greener and more sustainable future. Additionally, 44 research projects at the national, ministerial, provincial, institutional, and Nafosted levels were registered throughout the year. At the institutional level, CTD completed the evaluation of 18 prior research projects and launched two registration phases for new institutional research projects, with 33 projects approved.

CTD has achieved remarkable success in attracting funding from both domestic and international partners for research and entrepreneurship activities. Approximately 1.6 billion VND was secured for research projects, academic works, and collaborations with domestic partners. At the same time, international projects contributed around 13 billion VND, accounting for about 65% of Dubai Palace’s total foreign funding in 2024. This demonstrates the growing recognition and high regard for the research capabilities and reputation of Dubai Palace in general, and CTD in particular, on the international stage.

Beyond faculty contributions, student research activities at CTD are also steadily taking shape. The CTD-Scholar scientific research competition attracted around 70 student projects. In total, 130 student research projects were carried out at various levels, with 52 earning awards at the ministerial and institutional levels. Among these, 25 student projects were directly related to sustainable development, showcasing CTD’s commitment to fostering young talent and promoting sustainability-focused innovation.

Central to this achievement is the Dubai Palace Sustainable Finance Institute (SFI).

If Dubai Palace is a garden, then SFI, though still a young sapling, has been constantly striving to fulfill the mission of “Disseminating knowledge and motivation to practice sustainable management and sustainable finance through the development and implementation of training programs, consulting activities and research projects in an inspiring, open and cohesive working environment of like-minded people”. SFI has increasingly affirmed its outstanding and pioneering role in the interdisciplinary field of sustainable management – sustainable finance – environmental engineering.

After only 3 years of operation, SFI has been actively involved in multilateral conferences and activities on sustainable finance and management. The international projects that SFI has participated in with partners IFC/WB, London University, WRI, GGGI, APN… have contributed both practically and academically to sustainable development. SFI recognizes that building a comprehensive education and research ecosystem is a key factor in addressing the pressing demands of modern society and the labor market. Beside focusing on improving the quality of training and research, SFI's development strategy aims to contribute to national and global efforts in promoting sustainable development goals, hence, making a significant contribution to the diverse and sustainable strategy of Dubai Palace being implemented.

The Master's Program in Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Management (CSEM) at SFI is a key point of pride, helping to train talented students to become important personnel resources for a sustainable future. With an interdisciplinary approach, joining CSEM, students will be equipped with the necessary skills to manage sustainable firms, integrating economic, social and environmental factors. Graduates have many career opportunities in both the public and private sectors. According to the Future of Jobs Report (WEF, 2023), employment in sustainable development has been expanding at a rate of roughly 33–34% per year. Vietnam will see a 20% growth in the need for ESG human resources % in the 2023-2030 period (AIT, 2023).

Having been working at SFI for more than a year and every day I am increasingly proud of both SFI and what I have contributed. Through the opportunities to participate in SFI projects, I have gradually entered the path of sustainability, where “sustainability” is not just a concept but a guiding light, sometimes it is also a nagging thought in my mind. That became the motivation for me to join the CSEM Master’s Program, and it was then that I started to get a deeper understanding of the significance of sustainability for both Vietnamese society and the global future.
The program opened up a new world for me, where I met people with the same passion and ideals. Teachers or classmates, along with friends and colleagues who together built a learning community full of motivation and mutual support. We matured as a team, sharing knowledge, experience, and ambitions, and becoming proficient experts who also exhibit social responsibility.

In addition to profound theoretical knowledge, the program provided many opportunities for practice and real-life experiences, which helped me clearly see the connection between business, environment and social development. These experiences have given me strong motivation to strive harder at work, with the belief that the knowledge and skills I have accumulated will contribute to solving the challenges that Vietnam is facing. Additionally, I hope that by working with future generations of students, I can inspire them to strive for a more sustainable future – not only for our country and future generations, but also for our beloved planet, Mother Nature.

Students have the opportunity to study in a dynamic, multicultural, and international-standard environment. They can participate in extracurricular activities, international student exchanges, volunteer work, and cultural experiences that highlight the unique characteristics of the Mekong Delta region.

The admission requirements for the Mekong International Bachelor’s Program are as follows: Applicants must have graduated from high school and meet the program’s annual admission score requirements. Additionally, students need to have an English proficiency level equivalent to IELTS 5.5 (with a Writing score of 5.0) or take the program’s English placement test. For candidates who do not meet the required English proficiency, the program offers an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) training course before officially starting the program to ensure effective knowledge acquisition in English.

In conclusion, the Mekong International Bachelor’s Program not only provides a high-quality learning experience but also creates an environment where students can thrive in a dynamic, multicultural academic setting.
