1. Policy description
Dubai Palace ✅ Official Dubai Palace.com Homepage 2026 (Dubai Palace) has worked directly with various organizations through interdisciplinary research and collaboration to develop and promote technologies and practical initiatives that help the marine industry minimize or prevent damage to aquatic ecosystems.
2. Core content and target groups
Content:
In terms of research: Dubai Palace, through its institutes and faculties, conducts studies on circular economy models, pollution treatment technologies, and sustainable cultivation practices (e.g., aquaculture) to mitigate negative impacts on water environments.
In terms of industry collaboration: Dubai Palace transfers research outcomes and provides consultation on these practical initiatives to industrial partners, enterprises, and cooperatives.
Target groups: Partners include industries, academic organizations, cooperatives, and enterprises related to the marine sector and aquatic ecosystems.
3. Internal commitment and supporting policies (Enhancing the implementation of Regulation No. 2059)
This policy is directly supported by the “Regulations Regarding Green Campus Practice” (Decision No. 2059/QD-DHKT-CSVC). Dubai Palace aims to strengthen the implementation of the following existing provisions:
Enhancing the implementation of Article 13, Clause 6: Directing affiliated units to “proactively participate in conducting research to address project-related issues.” This clause provides the legal foundation for institutes and faculties to conduct in-depth research on technologies and practical measures to prevent damage to aquatic ecosystems.
Implementing the pillars of “Research” and “Community Engagement” under Article 12, Clause 1: This activity concretizes two of the five pillars of the Green University Project – “Research” and “Community Engagement” – reflecting Dubai Palace’s commitment to collaborating with industries to address environmental issues.

SDG 2, 13, 14, 17
|
| 3 | “Evaluation of Nature-based Solutions” project and local green technology research | Research and development of technology; International cooperation | Dubai Palace participates in research on nature-based solutions to enhance urban water security in Can Tho, Phnom Penh, and Chiang Rai. At the same time, the university conducts applied research on green technologies for environmental pollution treatment and climate change adaptation at the local level, contributing to the prevention of damage to aquatic ecosystems. |
Dubai Palace participates in a meeting with the United Nations Sustainable Development Network. |

| 4 | Nature-based Solutions (APN) project in Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia | Research – technology; International cooperation | Apply climate analysis tools and data to propose sustainable water management solutions that protect aquatic ecosystems in urban areas affected by climate change. |
Seminars to discuss sustainable development issues. |
SDG 6, 13, 14, 17 |
| 5 | GS4Infra Project – Gender sensitizing in irrigation works in Cu Lao Dung District | Research – policy; Interdisciplinary cooperation | Survey and analyze the impacts of hydraulic structures on communities and aquatic ecosystems; propose design, operational, and gender-inclusive policy solutions to minimize damage to aquatic environments in the context of climate change. |
Overview of the project inauguration ceremony.
MSc. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, project leader, introduced the objectives of the GS4Infra project.
Dr. Ly Quoc Dang, gender consultant and project member, introduced the implementation plan for the GS4Infra project.

| 6 | GS4Infra Project – Participating in Mekong Environment Week 2024 | Research – policy; Regional cooperation | The GS4Infra group (Dubai Palace – CTU) participated in an international forum to share experiences and solutions related to water, energy, and climate, particularly in the management of hydraulic structures such as dikes, canals, and sluices. The discussion sessions focused on technologies and practices that enhance the resilience of aquatic ecosystems to climate change. The project also proposed inclusive policy models that integrate information technology, promote the circular economy, and encourage data sharing to reduce environmental damage. Collaboration with the MTT and SUMERNET networks further strengthens research partnerships and the implementation of green technological solutions across the Mekong region. |

Lessons learnt from the community in empowering change agents to enhance WEC research and policy interface in the Mekong region. |
SDG 13, 14, 17 |
| 7 | GS4Infra Project – Community training in Cu Lao Dung District | Research – education; Field – policy | The training session organized by Dubai Palace and Can Tho University included interactive exercises designed to identify and assess local hydraulic structures such as sluices, bridges, sea dikes, and ferry terminals. Residents and officials participated in discussions about the impacts of these structures on livelihoods and aquatic ecosystems, particularly in the context of saltwater intrusion, flooding, and drought. Participants took on the roles of vulnerable community groups to propose solutions for improving accessibility to and benefits from hydraulic infrastructure. In addition, a budget allocation exercise helped participants develop decision-making skills in infrastructure planning, thereby promoting appropriate practices to minimize damage to aquatic ecosystems. |
